The Ophthalmology Department (part of the Head and Neck Care Group) at NHS HHP are primarilylocated at all the main hospital sites in the group (Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital, Diana Princessof Wales Hospital at Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole & District Hospital) where theconsultants are also based.There will be an increase in imaging capacity when the Ophthalmic Imaging Hubs open at East RidingCommunity Hospital, and Scunthorpe later this year.Currently there are 32 consultant ophthalmologists (FT & LTFT) at NHS HHP. Plans are in motion foradditional recruitment to expand the team in the next 1-2 years.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will assume a direct clinical role within the department, sharing all facilities equally with the existing consultants. This is a substantive post (10 PAs) and the appointee will be joining32 Consultant Ophthalmologist posts already established. The successful candidate will work 10 PA’s a week, which will include an 8 DCC and 2 SPA split (Flexible working may be considered).   • oCompetent Paediatric Ophthalmic surgeon and cataract surgeon
  • oFellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology

Management and Administration ExperienceEssential

  • oAbility to manage and lead medical/surgical teams
  • oAbility to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
  • oAbility to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload

Desirable

  • oExperience of supervising junior medical staff
