Employee Working Location: Remote/Virtual (Ottawa, Canada) 

Employment status: Temporary full time (14 months)

Salary band: $43,746 – $47,000/year

The incumbent will provide clients with company, companionship, and a connection with their community by addressing feelings of isolation or loneliness. The Coordinator will be responsible for expanding existing services through program promotion, establishing community partnerships, and strengthening the volunteer workforce.

In this role, you will: 

Responsibility 1. Program Promotion and Development 

  • Promote Friendly Calls Program initiatives and encourage client development of the Home and Community Care sector.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a program assessment tool to determine current and future needs of the Friendly Calls Program.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a referral program to encourage client development
  • Gathering data to prepare reports for the purpose of evaluating program success and referral process success.

Responsibility 2. Volunteer Workforce Development 

  • Strengthen and train volunteer workforce to provide Friendly Calls services utilizing existing Red Cross programs and support teams.
  • Integrate volunteer resources within the scope of responsibilities, as required.

Responsibility 3. Work Environment/Occupational Health and Safety 

  • Participate and promote completion of mandatory health and safety education/orientation.
  • Participate and promote respectful communication between all personnel and clients to promote a healthy and safe workplace.
  • Aware of and adhere to policies and procedures related to health, safety and quality matters to ensure employee, volunteer, and client safety.
  • Ensure all near-misses and incidents are promptly and accurately reported to their coordinator or designate.
  • Participate in discussions regarding safety awareness during team meetings.

Responsibility 4. Communication

  • Participate in internal and external program stakeholder meetings and communicate regularly with various stakeholders.
  • Engage with external community partners in the Home and Community Care sector to enhance program planning and implementation.
  • Ensure ethical conduct of program activities and the confidentiality of program participants.
  • Represent the program in a variety of contexts with a diverse range of audiences.

What we are looking for: 

  • One to three years’ experience in community program development or a relevant sector
  • Post secondary education is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent collaborator and skilled in partnership development
  • Volunteer management and training experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and empathy skills
  • Punctual and organized
  • Commitment and clear understanding of privacy and confidentiality.

Working conditions: 

  • The work may be performed both in an office environment and remotely from the Coordinator’s home.
