GCIB is responsible for managing the Bank’s key domestic and international client relationships and main financing products. GCIB has a deep understanding of clients from a credit and strategic perspective, enabling it to offer the right products. At the center of the client relationship, the Relationship Management teams coordinate the commercial strategy as well as internal product partners (e.g., capital markets, rates & currencies, and transaction banking).

In this role, the Associate will support developing new business, together with relationship managers, preparing capital committee presentations, and structuring and closing loans in the tech, media, telecom & sports sector. You will also maintain and service the existing portfolio as a Marketing Officer. In addition, you will represent the Bank in the targeted business community through participation in community affairs and the marketing of all the Bank’s products and services. The position will also require frequent monitoring and updates of the Salesforce database and management reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior bankers with lending proposals, capital markets updates, customer and industry research, marketing material production, coordination with product areas and other pitches to existing and prospective clients.
  • Assist Relationship Managers (RMs) with due diligence related to prospective client deals.
  • Follow and prepare sector materials, including updating white papers on sector specific developments and evolution
  • Prepare and present memos at capital committee that highlight the business rationale for leading or participating in revolving credit facilities, term loans, and other debt products.
  • Negotiate terms, structure loan financing based on risk considerations, and present credits for approval to appropriate levels of authority.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services by identifying transaction opportunities, marketing each product to identified clients, negotiating the terms and conditions, and executing and documenting the transactions.
  • Liaise with various product areas on GCIB transactions to help develop more extensive knowledge of MUFG’s product capabilities. Integrate developing product knowledge into draft presentations and transaction memos.
  • Develop a strategic and operational business plan for the department under the general guidelines provided by the Managing Director & Head of MTS.
  • Promote sales and marketing activity to the target market.
  • Follow relationship development activities with clients and act as liaison with product areas to facilitate opportunities.
  • Manage loan closing process teams that include KYC, funding, and liquidity.
  • Manage the team’s critical customer account planning projects in conjunction with our important product partners
  • Support the Bank’s culture through ongoing customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.

Skills & Experience:

  • 2 to 3+ years’ experience in U.S. banking and international markets with an emphasis on corporate credit analysis, capital markets and/or Media Communications and Tech coverage – formal credit training is a decisive asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including business writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Advanced user of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Financial modelling skills and experience in financial statement analysis are important
  • Knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets and products, including nonbanking financial institutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent work experience

Compensation and Total Rewards:

The typical base pay range for this role is between $135K – $155K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location with eligibility for discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation. Additionally, our Total Rewards program provides colleagues with a competitive benefits package (in accordance with the eligibility requirements and respective terms of each) that includes comprehensive health and wellness benefits, retirement plans, educational assistance and training programs, income replacement for qualified employees with disabilities, paid maternity and parental bonding leave, and paid vacation, sick days, and holidays.
