Reporting to the Correctional Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for a case load of offenders, job duties to include but not limited to:

  • Developing case plans, answering and following up on offender questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
  • Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinating major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation as well as transition planning and coordinating.
  • Planning and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):

The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

About the Dan River Prison Work Farm: 

Dan River Prison Work Farm is located in Blanch, NC. The facility sits on a 187.5-acre site in the north-central area of Caswell County and houses felon and misdemeanant minimum custody adult male offenders. Work assignments include food service, maintenance, janitorial and other institutional jobs. Other assignments include maintenance work at Caswell Correctional Center and the offender construction program.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
