This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm in Blanch, NC (Caswell County) a minimum custody male facility and reports directly to the Associate Warden of Programs. This position directs statewide complex programs within an agency, requiring specialized knowledge of issues, policies and procedures, state and local agency processes and procedures. This position serves as a manager with program authority in the area of assignment and oversee all operations and services provided by staff. Responsibilities include strategic and tactical planning, organizing and managing daily operations; human resources management and staff development; program policy and procedure design and implementation; and associated business functions. From time to time job assignment may include research. The position provides administrative, programmatic and fiscal oversight via regular supervision, guidance, training and technical assistance to staff, state-level policy guidance, comprehensive monitoring and forming federal, state and local linkages. The Director provides strategic leadership, program & resource management to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and contract provisions.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):

The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Dan River Prison Work Farm is located in Blanch, NC. The facility sits on a 187.5-acre site in the north-central area of Caswell County and houses felon and misdemeanant minimum custody adult male offenders. Work assignments include food service, maintenance, janitorial and other institutional jobs. Other assignments include maintenance work at Caswell Correctional Center and the offender construction program. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Documented experience with report writing
  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or Criminal Justice field from an appropriately accredited institution AND two years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
