At Woodland Crematorium, we pride ourselves on our customer service which is at the heart of everything we do.We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team at Woodlands Crematorium, able to deliver an efficient, dignified & caring bereavement service.You will be expected to show compassion and empathy in your approach to your work and will be required to deliver the highest quality professional, efficient, and customer focused service.You will need a customer focused and non-judgmental approach with excellent communication, organisation and IT skills. Empathy, sensitivity, tact and diplomacy, to manage difficult situations is vital, along with a mature attitude. The role will also see the management of cremated remains.The successful applicant is expected to achieve the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management, Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme qualification, within 6 months of their appointment.The duties of this post include preparing our Woodlands Chapel for funerals, meeting and liaising with Funeral Directors and on occasion, mourners, the operating and repair of cremators and various cleaning and clerical work.You must be:

  • Able to cope with the psychological pressures of working in the bereavement sector, both short & long term.
  • Physically able to lift and handle coffins and rake out cremators.
  • Of smart appearance.
  • Numerate, literate and a good communicator.
  • Able to work outside in all-weather conditions.
  • Able to deal sympathetically and effectively with the public.
  • Flexible, thoroughly organised and have the ability to balance conflicting priorities.
  • Able to work at heights of over two metres.

Your working hours will be 37 hours week, however there is an expectation of an element of flexibility required to meet the needs of the service.Our Woodlands Memorial Park and cemeteries remain open to the public from dawn until dusk every day and you may need to assist on occasion with opening and closing the building as well as the grounds.Candidates who are short-listed for interview, will be required to tour the premises, which will also include a simple test for manual handling and working at heights.For an informal chat about this position please contact Halyna de Boer (Bereavement Services Manager) – telephone 01724 29 8144.We are collectively organised around the people and place of North Lincolnshire.
