Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager for Customer Retention, the Customer Marketing Specialist focuses on implementing and managing our marketing automation systems to enhance our marketing efforts for existing propane customers, both residential and business. This junior but crucial role will focus on developing and executing email marketing campaigns, customer surveys, and focus group sessions to improve customer satisfaction, retention, and upsell opportunities. You will play a pivotal role in communicating the value of our propane services and ensuring a high level of engagement with current customers, while internalizing and optimizing marketing automation processes. This role is essential in enhancing the customer experience, maintaining loyalty, and ensuring that our customers continue to see the value of propane as an energy solution.
What you’ll do:
Marketing Automation Implementation and Management:
- Implement and oversee marketing automation systems for email campaigns and customer surveys, transitioning from third-party platforms like SurveyMonkey to internal systems.
- Manage customer segmentation and workflows within our marketing automation platform (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) to ensure targeted and personalized communications.
- Assist in automating customer journeys, including nurturing programs to drive retention, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with email marketing regulations.
Email Campaign Management:
- Plan, create, and execute targeted email campaigns aimed at residential and business propane customers.
- Develop compelling copy for promotional, informational, and service-related email communications.
- Design visually appealing email templates optimized for both desktop and mobile viewing.
- Conduct A/B testing to refine email content, subject lines, and calls to action to maximize customer engagement and conversion.
- Monitor email performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and optimize campaigns based on data insights.
Customer Research and Feedback:
- Develop and execute customer surveys to gauge satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and collect feedback on our services.
- Organize focus group sessions with both residential and business customers to gather deeper insights into customer needs and preferences.
- Analyze feedback from surveys and focus groups to inform marketing strategies and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Present findings and actionable insights to internal teams, recommending improvements or new initiatives based on customer input.
Content Creation and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure email visuals align with brand standards and resonate with both residential and commercial customers.
- Craft content that effectively communicates the benefits of propane for home heating, cooking, business operations, and other applications.
- Work closely with the marketing team to internalize processes currently managed by third parties.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and operations teams to align marketing efforts with business objectives and seasonal propane demand cycles.
- Provide regular reports on campaign performance, customer feedback, and engagement metrics.
- Monitor and analyze campaign performance to enhance effectiveness and maximize ROI.
- Support additional marketing activities aimed at customer retention, such as loyalty programs and educational content on propane safety and usage.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience in marketing, with exposure to marketing automation tools.
- Experience in email marketing, preferably within a service-oriented industry (B2C or B2B).
- Strong copywriting skills with the ability to tailor messaging to residential and business audiences.
- Proficiency in marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and CRM tools.
- Familiarity with email marketing best practices, including A/B testing, deliverability, and design.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and making informed marketing decisions.
- Experience with customer feedback methods (surveys, focus groups) and deriving actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience in the energy or utilities sector, particularly with residential or commercial customers.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and email design.
- Familiarity with survey platforms (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Typeform).
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
