The Job:The Data Governance Analyst supports the implementation of the Medical-Surgical Business’ data governance program. This role involves working with technology teams, legal-compliance departments, and data stewards to manage data governance tools, including data cataloguing and quality monitoring.The ideal candidate will have expertise in healthcare data governance and experience with HIPAA, HITECH, CCPA, GDPR, and SOX compliance. This role will report into the VP of Data Products Strategy and Governance and will be part of the Data Analytics and Automation.Responsibilities:

  • Lead the stewardship of governance teams by setting targets, coaching, mentoring, and guiding investment decisions. Advocate with management on data governance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business and data stakeholders to identify projects, capture requirements, scope resources, and build prioritization use cases for data governance projects that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that data governance aligns with the analytics and AI roadmap. Educate stakeholders on ROI related to data governance concepts.
  • Document, monitor, and ensure adherence to data governance policies and processes. Conduct periodic audits and manage remediation efforts as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the data catalog, managing data connectors, building domain and community structures, and overseeing the ingestion of metadata and other asset documentation.
  • Create and maintain a data governance playbook of standard processes, tools, and templates to support various data governance projects.
  • Lead and facilitate metadata documentation projects, defining standards and managing data catalog intake.
  • Ensure alignment between data quality, master data management, and data governance projects. Document and capture key metadata and metrics.
  • Manage and publish data governance KPIs and reports to the data community and relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with internal training resources to plan and conduct training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns on data governance concepts. Ensure alignment with overall data literacy goals and timing.

Do you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, or a related field (master’s preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance and compliance, with a focus on healthcare.
  • Proven project management skills with experience in metadata, data quality, data privacy, and compliance.
  • Ability to understand the business context in which data is used, including organizational goals, objectives, and risks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and legal concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work cross-functionally with various stakeholders to deliver insights.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with new data projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a track record of leading projects from concept to execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with popular data governance tools and platforms (e.g., Alation).
  • Understanding of data quality dimensions and their relationship with metadata management.
  • Familiarity with database structures, data architectures, and data modeling.
  • Understanding of analytics and its interplay with metadata for organizations aiming to leverage data for insights.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and workshops to elevate organizational understanding of metadata and data governance.
