Job Description:Database Engineer – Fully Remote – up to 50kRobert Half is working with a rapidly growing IT Consultancy business for the recruitment of a Database EngineerA fully remote role but with occasional travel to London for meetings, this roles sits within their Cloud Infrastructure and Security business unit and will be responsible for supporting external customers and internal database infrastructure on MS-SQL and related database technologies underpinning other applications, including High Availability solutions.Core responsibilities

• Ownership of customer ticket management processes, identifying and deploying solutions to customer queries within agreed SLA’s.

• Monitoring and identifying network infrastructure issues and physical, virtual and network layer interactions, with associated issue resolution.

• Proactively identifying improvements for the database configuration.
• Aid in the configuration and fault finding across A multiple operating systems and their interaction with databases.

• Administering databases, their structures, security and performance.
• Identify and undertake software installations, upgrades and patching.
• Develop scripts and processes to aid day-to-day activities, automating and streamlining wherever possible.

• As part of a team, proactively protect customer environments from vulnerabilities utilising tools such as patching and vulnerability scanning.

• Support the team by creating CRQs, adhering to customer best practice.
• Implement and execute CRQs, as required and per process.
• Maintain asset documentation with additions, decommissions and updates to ensure that the scope of support for our customers is understood, accurate and kept up to date.

Skill & Qualifications

• Considerable experience in managing Database servers, MS-SQL and related Windows technologies

• High Availability and database clustering.
• Experience of database management in cloud technologies and solutions advantageous (AWS & Azure).
• Certified MCSA: SQL Server.

• Service awareness, preferably IT Infrastructure library (ITIL) certification.
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken, able articulate ideas or proposals clearly.

• A troubleshooting mentality to tackle complex problems
• Self-starting, both in terms of ‘getting things done’ and the self-development to attain new skills, capabilities and knowledge
