Job Summary

This position reports to the DevOps & Automation Lead in Service, DevOps & Automation within the Digital Networks (DN) business unit and Group Networks. The DevOps Engineer role is dedicated to the build and operationalisation of end user products tightly integrated with our digital experience and network infrastructure. You will join a team of passionate engineers on a journey to build the next generation of network-enabled digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high quality software and have good understanding of DevOps practices. You should be comfortable learning new technologies and applying these in a rapidly changing environment.

It is expected from the candidate to apply test-driven development methods to building production systems. Experience with DevOps practices such as the preparation of CI/CD pipelines and automation of configurations, testing and monitoring is highly desired.

  • Understanding and application of best practices, standards and patterns for event-driven microservices architectures
  • DevOps stack platform support and lifecycle including, but not limited to, Gitlab, Harbor, Ansible Tower, ArgoCD, Grafana, Elk, Sonarqube / Fortify and Prisma Security.
  • Experience working with container orchestration, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Will thrive in a self-organised, agile team

Experience and Qualifications

  • A technical qualification (degree) in Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a dynamic software engineering team
  • Strong DevOps skills
  • Strict automation of quality control and application lifecycle
  • Good understanding of DevOps practices and agile methodologies
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritise work in a high-pressure delivery context
  • Self-driven and highly motivated with keen interest in product development
