Your Role: 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Impact, the Director of Inclusion and Belonging will play a pivotal role in shaping our company culture, fostering an inclusive environment, and championing diversity (in all senses of the word, including different viewpoints, backgrounds, identities, and experiences) to drive our business forward. You not only believe that successful organizations need Inclusion and Belonging, but you also can skillfully articulate why it is critical for a resilient business to all different audiences. You will implement the company’s Inclusion and Belonging (I&B) vision and develop a pragmatic, long-term strategic framework with measurable goals and defined milestones. You’ll lead initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and crew members of all levels to execute the strategy and implement programs to support those measurable goals. In this role you will effectively leverage our talented Crew Resource Groups (CRG) and committee leaders to drive results. You will instill accountability and foster a more inclusive culture through process and program development to benefit all our stakeholders. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Build out Vital Farms’ I&B vision and strategy to support our rapidly growing business and continue to integrate diverse perspectives to drive innovation and engagement
  • Develop I&B goals and implement initiatives to achieve them, continuously evaluating and pivoting based on effectiveness and results
  • In collaboration with our Talent Acquisition and Recruiting teams, enhance the way we recruit and support onboarding of all crew by elevating our outreach and leveraging strategic pipelining in service of I&B. You will identify and collaborate with external partners such as universities and community organizations to broaden our recruiting pipeline
  • In collaboration with our Learning and Development and Crew Engagement teams, expand our training and education curriculum to support our commitment to an open and inclusive culture. From reducing bias to making space for various points of view and opinions, you will ensure we have the right training and materials to support our crew and managers at all points throughout their journey (ie. Unconscious Bias, Psychological safety, Building Complementary Teams)
  • Evolve our existing Crew Resource Groups (CRG) to magnify their impact by providing role clarity, tools, and resources that support CRG initiatives. Provide guidance, structure and support to our CRG leaders.
  • Monitor trends, indicators, regulation, and other topics as it relates to I&B and serve as subject-matter expert for the organization 
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders as it relates to implementing the I&B strategy 

What You Bring to the Table:  

  • Bachelor’s degree, relevant post-graduate degree or specialized certification a plus
  • 8+ yeas of experience working in the Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity space at a mid-size, dynamic company 
  • Experience with influencing stakeholders from varied background required 
  • Experience in consumer-packaged goods, manufacturing or agriculture preferred 
  • Comfortable with public speaking to large and small audiences 
  • You have successfully designed and built programs from the ground up – you thrive in both the strategic visioning and tactical project management, fluidly moving between as needed
  • Experience with integrating Inclusion and Belonging initiatives into the broader organizational strategy, leveraging a structured approach with defined milestones and goals
  • You have built programs that met the needs of diverse stakeholders. At Vital Farms, this will include our hourly crewmembers, production leaders, remote crew, and our farmers—ranging from associate to executive level
  • A keen ability to synthesize multi-source data (quantitative) and sentiment (qualitative) inclusive of internal crew and external sources, leveraging these insights to tell the story of our journey and shape where we want to go
  • You are action-oriented, highly organized, and flexible– you love working in dynamic situations and are comfortable adapting to meet business needs, never stressing when you need to shift plans at the last minute
  • Ability to travel 20-30%, including overnight, across the US for company meetings, to conduct trainings, and to work with key internal and external stakeholders approximately
