Fixed-term: 24 months

Education Beyond Borders oversees programmes and initiatives across the University to support students and academics from across the world who have been forcibly displaced due to conflict, violence or persecution. This supports the University of Edinburgh’s Strategy 2030 objectives and UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) international ’15×30′ target of 15 per cent of refugees accessing higher education by 2030.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team and provide efficient service in a busy environment with a friendly, professional manner. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, managing recruitment processes, and serving as the primary point of contact for scholars, providing them with support and guidance. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in coordinating emergency response protocols during crises affecting our community and assisting in organising events like Refugee Week.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A degree plus relevant experience or educated to at least HNC/HND or equivalent level qualifications plus relevant administrative experience.
  • Broad experience acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on the job experience and demonstrating development in progressively demanding roles.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and flexibly to respond to time-critical queries.
  • Self-motivation and an ability to work unsupervised to get the job done, including the ability to manage time, deadlines and multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, oral and numerical, with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT, data and digital skills, including Microsoft Office.
