Job Description :Our client aims to initiate a digital transformation in the manufacturing industry that will significantly strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturing companies in Flanders.
Our client focuses on the following trends: smart, interconnected products & production systems, customized products at the cost of series production, agile, people-oriented production organizations and sustainable products & production systems.As an AI Engineer with a focus on embedded systems, you will:
– Determine constraints and requirements for implementing AI models on edge hardware
– Further optimize models for different edge hardware (Jetson TDA4VM, Xilinx Kria, …).
– Convert conventional AI models into open intermediate representations such as ONNX
– Systematically and structurally analyze and compare the performance of models and hardware
– Convert the developed algorithms into embedded software
– Test, evaluate and retest the developed algorithms extensively on real robots for a wide range of scenarios
– Work closely with the research team and project manager
– Take ownership of research projects and reportingAs artificial intelligence techniques become mature, there is growing interest in applying these techniques to the control of complex industrial systems with hard deadlines. Unfortunately, current AI techniques are characterized by unpredictable or highly variable performance, making them unsuitable for the requirements of real-time systems.The project focuses on research on optimizing AI techniques in a single or a combination of processing edges (GPU, FPGA), to meet industrial run time requirements [Latency and (Energy/Computation) Efficiency] of real-time industrial systems.
As an experienced AI engineer, you will assist the team of experts to implement specific use cases on edge hardware and compare their performance with conventional methods. Required qualifications :A Master of Science or PhD in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Math or Physics with 5 years of experience
Industrial and/or academic expertise in defining and solving optimisation problems;
Experience with embedded systems low level software.
Machine learning (CNN, RNN, LSTM, Transformers, VAE, DRL), algorithmic foundations of multi-agent optimization, advanced statistics and artificial intelligence (AI) in general, are your second nature
Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python and/or C/C++.
Familiar with Linux OS
Ability to design and execute on research agenda
Ability to work fluently in English (spoken and written)
Proactive work ethic and strong communication skills to ensure your research is understood and implemented in the best possible way.
Able to guide architectural & technical discussions and you ensure the bigger picture is never lost during a technical deep dive
Always eager to learn and develop yourself further
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills, intelligence, and initiative
