Excavator Operator – Telecom Construction

You are an experienced Equipment Operator with a proven ability to work alongside crew members in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality to help build telecommunications networks. Essential Responsibilities:

• Safe and efficient operation of mini excavators, excavators (200 Series), rubber tire backhoes, trenchers, dozers, skid steers, etc.
• Provide light maintenance and routine service to equipment
• Operates equipment, hand tools and lifts heavy items (up to 50 pounds)
• Reads and understands underground utility locates drawings and information and ensures safe digging practices are always being adhered to
• Maintains a healthy and safe work environment for the crew, the public, the client, LTS and Ledcor
• Maintain all equipment in good and safe working condition and report any findings to a Supervisor
• Take active role in Ledcor’s health and safety program

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in equipment operation
• Must have valid class 1 or class 3 driver’s license
• Previous experience in underground telecommunications or four party shallow utility installations is an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge of telecommunication construction documents
• Must be able to track and communicate daily production and materials
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with team members and Supervisors
• Must have and maintain a clean and current driver’s license and abstract
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
• Experience with safely operating a variety of large and small power equipment, light vehicles and properly tow/back-up trailers

Work Conditions:

• Working in confined spaces and outdoors in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
• Travel to various sites in the surrounding Calgary, AB area
