An exciting opportunity offered within the Military Corrective Training Centre (MCTC) Farm. Although this role is administered and managed by the Education Department, the Farm Manager is technically a standalone role solely responsible for the MCTC Farm.

MCTC is an establishment that provides corrective training for service personnel sentenced to periods of detention; it is not a prison. The Education Department predominantly provides resettlement opportunities including trade training and civilian life preparation for those of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force who are to be discharged after their sentence.
The position offers 37 hours per week.
This post will suit a highly motivated individual who is keen to take the initiative and influence learners as well as the future of the Farm. There will be training and mentoring to support this as part of the role.
We will encourage you to efficiently provide the day-to-day management of the farm estate; including management of buildings, animals, medicine administration, stock & agriculture ensuring that all processes and activity is aligned with relevant legislation.
To achieve this, you will need to be proficient in the use of IT and Microsoft Office. We need someone with validated administrative skills, knowledge and experience combined with strong verbal and written communication skills! These are key to success in this role.
The nature of the job ensures variety, MCTC is a Tri-Service establishment that requires Civil Service support to deliver key objectives, Education being a main valued goal. We receive individuals who have been awarded a detention period from 14 days to 2 years. We are here to support those individuals throughout their sentence within a custodial and educational environment.
Versatility will be required to work in a collaborative working environment, the ideal candidate will need to possess external liaison communication ability underpinned by a desire to deliver an effective and efficient level of animal care. A modern apprenticeship is a combined package of work and training. Professional qualifications which can be achieved through an apprenticeship range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs/ broadly equivalent to Scottish National 5s(N5s)), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels//broadly equivalent to Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher (H/AH)), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree. They normally last between 12 months – 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.
Anyone can undertake an Apprenticeship and everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from developing their skills in an accredited way. Successful candidates can discuss their development options with their manager when in post.

Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
