To be successful in the role you will need good experience across a range of husbandry enterprises consistent with current educational curriculum standards, and possess good supervisory skills to manage all farming activities and operations to support agricultural learning and the management of all farm related resources for teaching purposes within the educational framework. You will also need possess good prioritisation, planning and organisational skills to oversee workloads and workflows, and be a good communicator to work effectively with teachers, students and externals support agencies.

School Information 

Yanco Agricultural High School is a selective, co-educational, fully residential school with a projected 2025 student enrolment of 350 students who reside across all of New South Wales and in some cases interstate. 

Located in the New South Wales Riverina, 12 kilometres from Leeton, the school has 280 hectares, including 180 hectares of intensive irrigation and dry land agriculture and is bordered by the Murrumbidgee River. On the school grounds students have access to tennis courts, a gymnasium, swimming pool, 10 hectares of sporting ovals, after-hours library and resource centre, as well as a host of individual and team activities at school and in the local community. The school has outstanding agricultural facilities and is a leader in agricultural education. Programs include show stock teams in sheep, beef cattle, equine and poultry who travel extensively and provide additional opportunities for students to excel in this area of interest. The school has a diverse range of staff who support both the day and residential component of the school. The Strategic Plan identifies a focus on improving literacy and numeracy skills, HSC achievement, student wellbeing, excellence in Agriculture and enhancing community partnerships. The school community is invested in working in partnership with the school to develop and deliver on a common vision where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential in the premier Agricultural High School in New South Wales.

The Farm Supervisor supervises school farm operations (including livestock, cropping and equine agistment) and grounds (including school grounds and bushland). Onsite accommodation may be available to the successful applicant on request and upon meeting requirements set by the school. The Farm Supervisor will have access to a school vehicle.

Special Notes Conditions

This is an Above Centrally Identified permanent non-teaching position established through school funds. The successful candidate’s continued appointment to this position will be subject to the continuity of this funding, the ongoing requirement for the role and the educational needs of the school. Should the funding or the requirement for the position cease, the officer will receive priority consideration for placement at an alternative location. When accepting the position the successful applicant will be indicating their acceptance of the terms and conditions attached to this appointment.
