Location/Division Specific Information

The Binding Site VT specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep, and is part of a larger diagnostic company based in England. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for an Animal Lab Technician on our busy USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT.

Our work in specialty diagnostics – from providing diagnostic assays and instruments to clinical monitoring across disease stages – improves the diagnosis and management of blood cancers and immune system disorders. Discover Impactful Work:

The full time Animal Lab Technician is responsible for providing high quality antisera, ensuring all procedural work is carried out/delivered in line with the company’s supply and operation process. This includes production and any research and development and design control requirements, while adhering to the quality policy and other relevant regulatory and governing bodies and company policies.

A Day in the Life:

  • Antisera processing
  • Collection of blood by plasmapheresis
  • Completion of relevant records
  • Antigen administration
  • Test bleeding
  • Weekly animal sorting for production activities
  • Care for and ensure the welfare of animals including but not limited to feeding, watering, bedding, and routine mucking

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driving license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of working on a farm and/or with livestock and operating farm equipment and vehicles

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills (written and verbal) within a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve and prioritize workloads with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Dependability, reliability, and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Must be flexible due to the unexpected nature of working with animals.
  • Able to work weekends as part of the animal feeding staff rotation.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds +/- and walk on uneven, wet, slippery surfaces.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, turning.
  • Must be willing to work weekends as scheduled
