Shift: Sun 7 AM – 10 AM, Mon/Thu 7 AM – 4 PM, Tues/Wed 7 AM – 4:30 PM

We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for a Farm Worker on our USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT.
Discover Impactful Work:
The full time Farm Worker will participate in and carry out all aspects of farming and general animal husbandry. This person will ensure that the farm and animals are maintained to a high standard and will be encouraged to operate efficiently and effectively within the department. They will be responsible for ensuring that all of their work is carried out in accordance with USDA, health and safety, and animal welfare procedures and guidelines, as well as company policies and standards.
A Day in the Life:
- Carry out daily feeding and bedding of all animals on the farm.
- Participate in and/or carry out manure removal (mucking out) of all barns, pens, and shelters.
- Monitoring of all grain, hay, and mineral supplies and inventory
- Participate in herding and transfer of animals and feed between farms sites.
- Assist Animal Husbandry team with other requirements regarding the care and welfare of animals.
- Assist in keeping all land and buildings to USDA and VAAFM standards.
- Participate in all field maintenance including brush hogging, manure spreading, and fence line trimming.
- Support Facilities Maintenance team in snow removal where required, including access for farm and delivery vehicles, and all other farm road access to other farm facilities including barn and shelters for animal feeding and checks. In addition, early morning or weekend clearing may also be necessary and as required.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driving license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience of working on a farm and/or with livestock and operating farm equipment and vehicles
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills (written and verbal) within a team environment.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve and prioritize workloads with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Dependability, reliability, and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Must be flexible due to the unexpected nature of working with animals.
- Able to work weekends as part of the animal feeding staff rotation.
- Lift up to 50 pounds +/- and walk on uneven, wet, slippery surfaces.
