Cornell Agricultural Experiment Station – Field Assistant II, Willsboro, NY
The Cornell Agricultural Experiment Station (Cornell AES) is dedicated to sustainable “science for life,” in its two core, separate but related, functions — the operation of world-class research facilities throughout the state and the generation and application of research-based knowledge through the administration of federal formula grants.
The Willsboro Research Farm encompasses 352 acres, with an additional 40 acres of research fields at the Miner Institute in Chazy, NY. Research projects are diverse and include breeding, horticulture and crop and soil science research on small grains, corn, biofuel grasses, grapes, high tunnel production and much more. The farm is managed by CUAES as a site for interdisciplinary applied research. Cooperatively support agricultural research, teaching and extension projects in accordance with the Land Grant Mission.
What You Will Do
As the Field Assistant II you will participate in most phases of research and production to support 10+ faculty research programs. Key Responsibilities will include:
Participate in annual preparations for field days and other agricultural outreach events. Work collaboratively to progress a culture of sustainability. Effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
What We Need from You
You will be most successful in this role if you have a High School Diploma with 2 years’ experience in commercial or research farming or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include:
