Location: UK (able to commute into the London office 2x per week)
Duration: 18-month contract (renewal subject to funding)

Compensation: £56,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

All Survivors Project
All Survivors Project’s (ASP) mission is to support global efforts to eradicate conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) and strengthen national and international responses to it through research and action on CRSV against men and boys. Working with victims/survivors and in partnership with national and international actors on the ground, ASP undertakes long-term, in-depth work on selected conflict-affected countries, currently Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Colombia and Ukraine. ASP has a team of full-time and part-time staff members in the UK, Europe and Colombia.
About the role
All Survivors Project are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance and Accounting Manager with a passion for human rights to provide comprehensive financial and accounting management to our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to support a growing organisation to evolve, and the role will suit an ambitious and meticulous finance professional with a proactive and practical approach to their work.
As Finance and Accounting Manager, you will take on a leadership role, working closely with the Executive Director and our small but highly motivated team. The role covers financial due diligence, donor proposals and reporting, preparation of management accounts, budget management, audit management and resources allocation. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures including donor regulations and guidelines and governmental compliance.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom. Visa sponsorship is not available, and no payment is available for relocation. The role requires a hybrid of home and office-based working. ASP accommodates flexibility in working hours. Given the needs of a small organisation, you may be requested to work beyond these hours on occasion.
Core Responsibilities
1. Accounting responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping & recordkeeping: Maintain QuickBooks; ensure accurate day-to-day bookkeeping; track income and expenses of ASP’s grants; support the team to manage grants through internal reporting and skills building.
- Payments: Process payments using online banking platform and StoneX, reconciling accounts and credit cards.
- Payroll processing: Administer payroll and pensions.
- Consultant payments: Process consultants’ payments ensuring adherence to internal policies and donor requirements.
- Cashflow management: Consolidate monthly cash needs from budget holders; compile monthly cash forecasts; ensure timely submission of information to the Executive Director.
- Accounts: Prepare management and year-end accounts, including balance sheets, cashflow forecasts, income statements, fund balance reports, budget versus actuals and others.
- Audit: Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with donor-specific financial guidelines.
2. Financial planning and budgeting responsibilities:
- Budgeting: Develop and manage annual and project-specific budgets.
- Quality control: Ensure completion and quality of deliverables prior to payment of invoices; ensure all procurement is executed according to policies and regulations, including the review of consultant agreements, expense reports and travel advances for accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation.
- Budget for project proposals development: Act as the finance lead in developing funding budgets to support project proposal creation.
- Donor reporting: Build and manage a rolling donor reporting schedule, ensuring timely notifications to the Executive Director and relevant staff when reports are due; prepare and compile comprehensive donor financial reports, coordinating with the Executive Director for verification, approval, and submission.
3. Operations
- Systems administration: Strengthen and maintain financial systems, including policy updates and documentation.
- Efficiency improvement: Identify and propose process enhancements to improve overall operational efficiency.
- Governance and compliance: Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to the Board of Trustees; submit RTI to HMRC on time.
Person Specification
1. Qualifications
- Professional accountancy qualification e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA (open to alternative qualifications in accountancy or those who are studying towards a qualification and have suitable supplementary experience)
2. Knowledge & experience
- Previous experience in NGOs or organisations being funded primarily through grant-funding.
- Knowledge of budgeting and reporting processes.
- Audit preparation experience.
- Experience in presenting financial information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
- Desirable: Experience of dealing with USAID, EU, UN and other bi-lateral and multilateral funding.
3. Skills & abilities
