AL-AMEEN for Humanitarian Support is a non -governmental organization established by a group of volunteers in Syria during the crisis in 2012 and registered in the USA, Sweden, and turkey.

AL-AMEEN is implementing projects through regional offices in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, and Somalia.

Our work sectors are Health, Nutrition, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Protection, Shelter &Non-food items, Wash and Sanitation.

AL-AMEEN also manages development projects, advocates to empower civil societies and local governance.

Job Description :

The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organization to ensure proper financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management. They will work closely with program teams and leadership to support the humanitarian mission, ensuring that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently to maximize impact on the communities served.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management & Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports for all projects and organizational activities.
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
    • Monitor cash flow and manage financial forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations.
    • Lead the preparation of the annual budget, including planning and alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Provide regular financial reports to senior management and donors, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Work with department heads and project managers to develop and monitor project and program budgets.
    • Perform variance analysis to track actual spending against the budget, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Provide financial forecasts based on current and projected operational activities.
  3. Compliance & Audit:
    • Ensure that all financial processes comply with internal policies, donor regulations, and local legal requirements.
    • Prepare for and coordinate external and internal audits, addressing any findings and implementing recommendations.
    • Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  4. Grant & Donor Financial Management:
    • Oversee financial management of grants, ensuring accurate tracking of funds, timely reporting, and compliance with donor guidelines.
    • Prepare financial reports and ensure proper documentation for donor compliance and audits.
    • Coordinate with program teams to ensure alignment between financial management and programmatic requirements.
  5. Financial Risk Management:
    • Identify potential financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s assets.
    • Manage currency exchange risks, ensuring stability in financial transactions across multiple currencies.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other financial legal requirements in various countries of operation.
  6. Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.
    • Provide training and capacity-building support to non-finance staff to enhance their understanding of financial management.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or a professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
  • Knowledge:
    • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial management in the context of humanitarian work.
    • Experience with donor-funded projects and understanding of donor financial reporting requirements.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Advanced proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel).
    • Ability to work in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
    • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Turkish, ) is a plus.

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within AL-AMEEN and amongst beneficiaries served by AL-AMEEN
