An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with proven financial management experience to join our Eurasia and North Africa team as a Finance Manager, responsible for ensuring the programme’s financial accounting records, systems, and procedures in Iraq are compliant with Tearfund standards.
As part of the senior management team, the Finance Manager will maintain a system of financial record-keeping from which to provide the Country Director, Senior Management Team in the countries and Tearfund UK with timely, accurate and meaningful financial management information to enable them to monitor and manage the programmes (partners and field offices) effectively. In accordance with Tearfund policies and guidelines, to maintain a system of sound internal controls in order to safeguard Tearfund assets, mitigate against the risk of financial loss and fraud and satisfy donor and statutory audit requirements. To ensure the programme’s financial accounting records and systems and procedures are compliant with Tearfund standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or a related
- Internationally recognised Professional Accounting or Auditing Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CCAB recognised qualification) OR Qualified Accountant by Experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance position with medium business/medium NGO/government agency
- Experience in major donor regulations (US, UK, Canada Governments, GOG, EC/ECHO, UN agencies) is a MUST.
- Particular knowledge of financial systems, internal financial controls & procedures and staff management skills is a must.
- Prior experience working with implementing partners and supporting NGO grant partners.
- Proven experience of strategic planning
- Proven experience in managing people
- Proven donor financial compliance experience, finanical capacity building
- Experience in project design and management, implementing new processes, procedures and controls.
- Experience in finance training for finance and non-finance professionals
The candidate will also demonstrate:
- A quick learning ability, works proactively with excellent problem-solving skills and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to generate financial reports and meet set deadlines and with good integrity.
- Strong communication skills with oral and written proficiency in English and Arabic.
- Mastery of computer systems, such as Excel and finance management software
- The ability to take initiative, be a great team player and work with integrity.
