Loblaw Brands is searching for a driven and experienced Food Scientist to join our dynamic Regulatory & Scientific Affairs team to help shape the future of our brands. A strong agri-food background is required, as well as insight into global scientific research & developments to deliver market leading innovation.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, you’ll be at the heart of innovation within Loblaw Brands. In the Food Scientist role, you’ll support our innovation, product management and product development teams to identify technical innovative solutions. This dynamic position requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong ability to collaborate and influence.

In this exciting role, you will:

Explore the Frontiers of Food Science: Dive deep into research, evaluating emerging science and technologies to fuel long-term innovation.

Shape the Future of Food: Spearhead the exploration and identification of cutting-edge agri-food advancements such as regenerative agriculture & enhanced nutrient density solutions.

Be a Champion for Excellence: Ensure Loblaw Brands products remain at the forefront of developing food science breakthroughs by championing technical excellence.

Bridge Science & Application: Translate scientific knowledge into actionable solutions for our customers, advancing the application of agri-food opportunities within our product portfolio.

Be a Subject Matter Expert: Be the go-to resource for technical food science information, translating complex details into clear communication for internal stakeholders.

Represent Loblaw: Participate in industry associations and working groups, acting as a subject matter expert on key food science topics. Attend relevant trade shows and conferences to continuously develop and remain current on trends and technology.

Thrive in a Collaborative Environment: Embrace a fast-paced, collaborative environment, working closely with our internal teams, vendor community, associations, ingredient suppliers & research partners to support the transformation of concepts into reality.

Do you have what it takes?

BSc. Or MSc. In Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field with expertise in novel technologies & ingredients, regenerative agriculture & agri-food nutrient density enhancement.

Minimum 5 years’ experience with demonstrated technical food science expertise in agri-food production within the CPG sector.

Proven ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global research partners.

Strong innovation skills with the ability to leverage consumer insights to drive technical product solutions.

Basic knowledge of Canadian regulations.

A meticulous eye for detail and a passion for analytical problem-solving.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and tasks.

Exceptional collaboration skills and a collaborative spirit.
