This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items; helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.
The foreman is responsible to assist the farm/ranch manager and, under limited supervision, perform the duties and functions required to meet the welfare needs of the Church, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and marketing of farm products. There are critical time sensitive moments in which to plant, cultivate, irrigate, and harvest if a quality product is to be produced. The incumbent must be dedicated to see that the work is accomplished, no matter how many hours are required. Varying climactic conditions.
40% Performs manual duties involved in irrigation, either by center pivot, wheel line sprinklers, or flood irrigation. This may include moving wheel lines, extensive shovel work, moving pipe, troubleshooting electrical or mechanical issues in pivots, and performing general maintenance.
40% Operates equipment to plow, disc, harrow, fertilize, plant, cultivate and harvest crops in a safe and responsible manner. Performs general maintenance and repairs on equipment as required and assigned.
15% Perform duties such as building and maintaining fence, painting, pruning, weeding and cleaning in order that physical facilities and grounds reflect Church standards and image.
5% May help in assisting and supervising volunteers as assigned by management to help maintain a safe work environment.
