  • We are seeking talented graduates for our September 2024 intake with a passion for cyber-security and engineering with an inquisitive mind, an intrinsic interest in innovation, enthusiasm for solving complex technical engineering problems, and achieving success through teamwork. You will be provided with a unique experience to work on a range of projects from early inception to delivery in addition to early research activities pathfinding future crypto solutions.
  • The 2-year graduate programme is structured upon rotations, nominally 6 months duration, with exposure to a variety of key engineering disciplines including Systems and Integration Verification & Validation (IVV), Software, Hardware (Mechanical & Electronics) and Firmware (FPGA) as well as other departments outside of engineering. Your home discipline will be within the Systems Engineering and IVV discipline, where you will begin and end your graduate journey.
  • Post the two-year scheme, you are offered a position at Ultra I&C Cyber within the Systems Engineering discipline located in Maidenhead, our new state-of-the-art Cyber Centre of Excellence.

  • Excellent support, including direct access to a mentor (independent of your line manager), on-the-job coaching by senior team members, and formal training of both soft and technical skills.
  • Rotation development in the systems discipline will be aligned to INCOSE, building your Sys Eng and IVV competence across the engineering lifecycle, whilst also offering learning opportunities align to international and Defence standards.
  • We encourage graduates to participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to progress their engineering competence and work towards professional recognition of their achievements. We also help support our engineers to become chartered or incorporated. INCOSE alignment enables future opportunity to gain ASEP recognition, building towards CSEP certification. Equally an IVV/Testing progression to widely recognised IVV related certifications.
  • Ultra I&C Cyber encourages all graduates to be STEM advocates through activities such as school, college and university engagement and volunteering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing your Systems and IVV Engineering skills and technical knowledge of solutions
  • Work constructively with other team members, solving complex problems between disciplines, to develop solutions that meet our customers’ requirements and business objectives
  • Creation of the engineering SE and IVV strategy and plans, define design models and methodologies to evidence/assure solution meets the requirements, using industry standard tools and techniques.
  • Management of Requirements and related information using tools such as DOORS
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security Aspects to ensure compliance with Government regulations
  • Construct functional and physical Architectures, analytical diagrams and functional models with support from senior team members, using modelling tools and INCOSE techniques.
  • Hands on testing (inc automated) and laboratory work, with support from senior team members

Skills Required

  • Relevant degree in a STEM related discipline (minimum lower second-class honour’s degree) achieved within the past two years.
  • You must be able to apply your knowledge of science and/or engineering to real world problems as part of a team and as an individual, communicating technical and project aspects
  • A Systems Thinker, taking a holistic approach to problem solving that considers both technical and non-technical issues
  • Logical and Analytical in your approach in order to clarify how the solution needs to work, seeking out options, justifying decisions, implementing a risk based and best value outcome.

Desirable skills:

  • Systems Engineering V lifecycle knowledge, MBSE/OOSE, design driven development models, TOGAF/MODAF architectural analysis, Agile/Scrum task management techniques.
  • Automated test frameworks/scripting/languages, Test Equipment design.

Role Requirements

  • Gain SC clearance, also willing and able to obtain and maintain DV security clearance.
