Health and Safety AssistantOptimize Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading manufacturing company in Ireland to recruit a Health and Safety Team Member. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Health and Safety graduate to kickstart their career in a dynamic, supportive, and career-focused environment.Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager, you will play an integral role within a tight-knit team, contributing to key health and safety initiatives at their on-site location in Kildare. This on-site role eliminates the need for travel, allowing you to enjoy a healthy work-life balance while advancing your career.The position offers a fantastic platform for professional growth, providing hands-on experience and mentorship in all aspects of health and safety within a thriving manufacturing environment.With the guidance of the Senior Health and Safety Manager, responsibilities will include:

• Regularly conducting individual business safety inspections, preparing detailed reports, and implementing corrective and preventative measures. Work closely with key departments to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
• Investigating and reporting accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately, ensuring corrective actions are implemented swiftly.
• Managing and monitoring a robust near-miss and hazard reporting system. Engage continually with departmental managers, safety representatives, and employees to maintain effective communication and system involvement.
• Identifying safety-related training needs and ensuring that mandatory training is completed on time. Develop and distribute health and safety communications, such as tool box talks and safety alerts, to foster ongoing improvement. Maintain training matrices to ensure documentation is up-to-date.
• Assisting in managing the Contractor Management Programme by delivering training on contractor requirements, auditing approved contractors and their activities, and reviewing safety documentation for compliance with site and legal standards.
• Overseeing emergency preparedness arrangements across the site, including fire safety, chemical safety, and vehicle-related safety protocols.
• Preparing weekly management reports for senior leadership meetings, highlighting safety trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Regularly reviewing and updating the Company Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures, and Safety Statement.
• Collaborating as part of a team to ensure high standards of health and safety across the site.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

• Preferably 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Health and Safety Honours Degree.
• Manual Handling Instructor certification.
• Train the Trainer certification.
• Occupational First Aid certification.
