As we continue to expand, we’re looking to enhance our team with a dedicated Health and Safety Officer. This role will play a pivotal part in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance across all of our locations, fostering a safe and engaging environment for both our employees and our guests.Job Overview:The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and compliance of health, safety, and food safety protocols across multiple restaurant units. This role ensures the highest standards of workplace safety, food safety (HACCP), fire safety, and accident reporting are upheld. Working closely with general managers and staff, the officer will drive a culture of safety and compliance across all practices in accordance with internal policies and relevant health and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:Health and Safety Oversight
- Provide guidance and support across eight restaurant units to ensure full compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards.
- Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess safety practices and verify adherence to established protocols.
- Support general managers in meeting location-specific health and safety goals and improving audit scores.
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Compliance
- Oversee the maintenance and consistent implementation of HACCP plans across all units.
- Ensure HACCP books are up-to-date and accurately maintained at each location.
- Regularly review food safety practices and documentation to guarantee compliance.
Safety Training & Engagement
- Monitor and support the health and safety training of managers and staff, including food hygiene and fire safety.
- Promote staff engagement in health and safety through effective communication, training sessions, and interactive workshops.
- Identify and address training gaps, ensuring employees are competent and knowledgeable in their roles.
Incident and Accident Reporting
- Oversee the reporting and investigation of workplace accidents, near-misses, and injuries.
- Ensure all incidents are documented, reported, and investigated in line with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with unit managers to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrences.
Customer Complaints and Investigations
- Collect and analyse reports on customer complaints, including allegations of food poisoning and foreign body incidents.
- Investigate complaints swiftly and effectively, following up to ensure high standards of food safety are maintained.
- Develop and refine strategies to minimize future complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
Fire Safety Checks
- Manage fire safety protocols, including fire drills, equipment checks, and staff training.
- Ensure all fire safety documentation is accurate, current, and compliant with safety regulations.
Audit and Compliance
- Collaborate with general managers to improve site health and safety audit scores.
- Assist in preparing for and completing internal and external audits.
- Ensure all units adhere to local and national health and safety regulations, including food safety requirements.
Policy Development and Improvement
- Support the review and updating of health and safety policies, ensuring they align with current legislation.
- Proactively advise on and implement changes to enhance safety across all units.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Essential:
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification or equivalent in Health and Safety.
- HACCP certification (Level 3 or higher).
- Experience in health and safety advisory roles, preferably in the hospitality or food service sector.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and fire safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and engage staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in customer complaints and food safety issues.
- Desirable:
- Experience overseeing multiple locations or units.
- Familiarity with health and safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).

- Strong organizational and reporting abilities.
