Heavy Equipment Maintenance Tech I

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician l is the entry-level diesel mechanic position to learn and become familiar with the Kreher rolling equipment shop facilities and processes, and to perform under direct supervision, the duties relative to working with vehicles and farm equipment to inspect, repair and maintain them. He/she is expected to train with and learn from a more experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician II whenever possible.

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician I has the aptitude to troubleshoot problems with the trucks and heavy equipment, disassembling and reassembling engines and other components. At times, they are expected to work out in a field, fixing farm equipment. The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician I must learn more than just engine repair. 

They must have some understanding and desire to learn about electrical systems, hydraulics, and fuel/brake lines etc.

Although it is not their primary focus of the job, the Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician I is sometimes required to drive a delivery or manure truck.
