Exciting Opportunity: Join Swansea County Council as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) in Children Services!Are you a dedicated social worker looking to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families? Swansea County Council, in partnership with Randstad, is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join their dynamic team.Position: Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO)
Location: Swansea, Wales
Pay Rate: £33 per hourRole Overview:As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will be a key figure in our Children Services department, responsible for overseeing the care plans of looked after children and ensuring they receive the support they need to reach their full potential. Working collaboratively with social workers, families, and other professionals, you will chair reviews and provide independent oversight to ensure that the best interests of the child are at the heart of decision making processes.Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairing statutory reviews of care plans for looked-after children, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice guidelines.
  • Providing independent challenge and scrutiny to promote the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Collaborating with multiagency teams to assess the effectiveness of care plans and identify areas for improvement.
  • Advocating for the voice and wishes of the child, ensuring they are actively involved in decision making processes.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements and departmental policies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with significant experience in children’s services.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales (SCW)
  • DBS on update service
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Care Planning Regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
