At Lighthouse Studios, our six core values, pride, passion, persistence, playfulness, poise and people-focus, underpin everything we do and provide guidance for us as we grow and learn.We are now on the hunt for Junior – Mid 2D Toonboom Animators who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners.The start date for this role is 15th of April 2024.This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny. – NO FREELANCE OPTIONDue to employment time constraints, for this role we will only be able to consider applications from residents within the EU / EU passport holders only.The role is for a 2D animated feature film, with a hybrid mix of traditional and rigged animation.About the roleThe role of the animation artist is to create the final animation in Toon Boom according to a weekly quota, as agreed with the animation director and animation supervisor. The role may also include some mentoring of junior artistsWe really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse. • Study the animation style of the production as well as the animation supervisor’s brief on the objectives of each scene.
• Animate an assigned number of frames as per quota per week, comprising multiple passes and approval by the animation supervisor/lead and animation director. Please note that quota can vary depending on difficulty and complexity of the assigned scene, which will be assessed by the production department and the relevant supervisor.
• Follow the instructions of both the animation supervisor/lead and the production manager in order to meet creative standards and production deadlines.
• Communicate any problems to the animation supervisor, production manager and production coordinator.
• Communicate progress of work to the animation supervisor, production manager and production coordinator.
• Ensure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in animation work and that all notes/retakes are added.
• Support junior crew members occasionally, as per supervisor’s request.
• Follow exact procedures set by Lighthouse Studios (i.e. file naming and storage) according to the production’s guidelines.

The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.What we’re looking for

• 1+ years of experience as an animator or to have completed at least one production
• Experience working with Toon Boom
• Strong understanding of traditional 2D principles.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work.
• Attention to detail and ability to find solutions.
• Experience with Shotgrid is considered a plus.
