We want families to bring up their own children, where support may be required to keep families together, we want to work with families to do this in the most helpful way possible and when it is necessary for children to come into our care we want to reduce the number of days that this is for and reunify children whenever it is safe and in their best interest to do so. This is why Portsmouth City Council continues to provide significant investment in social work with children, young people and their families to make this a reality.Your New Role:You will give advice and guidance to employers, organisations and other individuals who have concerns about the behaviour of an adult who works or volunteers with children and young people. You will coordinate the safeguarding and investigative process in response, provide advice and guidance to employers or voluntary organisations, and liaise with police and other agencies including Ofsted and professional bodies. You will monitor the progress of referrals to ensure they are dealt with as quickly as possible, consistent with a thorough and fair process, alongside resolving any interagency issues. You will collect strategic data and maintain a confidential database, and disseminate learning through the children’s workforce.Please read the job profile for the full details of this role.What you’ll need to succeed:You are a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with substantial post-qualifying experience in child protection work including management or supervisory experience and experience of performance management. You have experience in managing complex child protection and safeguarding concerns, and are knowledgeable about managing allegations against persons working in a position of trust. You are a confident and competent children’s social worker, with excellent communication skills and experience in multi-agency working.
