Job description
Materials Manager – County Cavan.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end materials management process, from receiving to logistics and distribution. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising materials management, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production and customer demand.
KeyResponsibilities:
1. Inventory Management:
- Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production requirements while minimising carrying costs.
- Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste and improve accuracy.
2. Logistics and Distribution:
- Coordinate the movement of materials from suppliers to manufacturing facilities.
- Collaborate with logistics partners to optimise transportation and distribution processes.
3. Quality Control:
- Work closely with quality control teams to ensure that materials meet specified quality standards
- Implement measures to address and prevent materials-related quality issues.
4. Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
- Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Collaborate with finance teams to establish and manage materials management budgets.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks in materials
6. Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of materials professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance on complex materials management issues.
Requirements for this role:
- Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Materials Manager or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management abilities.
- Proficiency in using materials management software and tools.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to convey complex materials-related information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
