The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality mathematics education to students aged 14-19, fostering their academic growth and preparing them for future careers in engineering and technology.Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging mathematics lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure all students make progress.
Assess, record, and report on students’ progress and achievements, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the mathematics curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning and integrate mathematics into broader engineering and technology projects.
Support students’ academic and personal development through mentoring and additional support sessions as needed.
Participate in extracurricular activities and events that enhance the student experience at UTC Heathrow.
Maintain high standards of classroom management and discipline, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
Engage with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to support students’ educational progress and wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience of teaching mathematics at the secondary level, preferably including experience with Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for mathematics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
Desirable:
Experience in teaching mathematics within a technology or engineering-focused curriculum.
Familiarity with vocational qualifications and assessment methods.
Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
