- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, with demonstrated interest or involvement in welding activities.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering principles.
- A keen interest in developing specialized expertise in welding engineering.
- Experience with WPQRs and welder qualification processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Microsoft Access is a plus.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) qualification or an interest in pursuing one is advantageous.
- A valid European driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Mechanical Engineer Skills:
- Contribute to engineering projects, ensuring welded and fabricated systems comply with project specifications and industry standards.
- Work alongside senior welding engineers to develop expertise in welding techniques, processes, and quality control measures.
- Assist in organizing and overseeing welding activities across different projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Support the drafting, review, and development of Preliminary Welding Procedure Specifications (pWPS), ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry requirements.
- Aid in coordinating welder qualification tests and documentation, ensuring welders meet project and industry standards.
- Oversee welding activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Take part in the development and review of welding procedures, gradually assuming more responsibilities in this area.
- Assist in evaluating welding-related aspects of tender documents and preparing welding proposals for project bids.
- Support the inspection and testing of welded joints under senior supervision, learning how to detect and address defects.
- Collaborate with project engineers and welding specialists to choose suitable materials and welding processes based on project needs.
- Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, inspection reports, and certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.
