The Department provides radiotherapy, radiation protection, diagnostic radiology and non-ionising radiation services to the hospital. The successful candidate will be mainly employed in the radiotherapy department although roles and duties in diagnostic imaging would also be expected. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientist who wishes to apply and develop their knowledge and experience in the areas outlined above.Essential CriteriaEligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:1. A recognised first or second class honours degree in which Physics was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject or;2. Hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent thereto.3. Possess the required knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of duties of the post4. Eligibility to work in IrelandDesirable Criteria5. Completion of a formal training scheme in medical physics.6. Possession of a postgraduate qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline.7. Experience in the field of medical imaging or Radiotherapy.8. Experience working in multidisciplinary environments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Primary responsibility is to provide medical physics support for high quality diagnostic and radiation therapy to cancer patients2. Assist the Radiotherapy department setting up new systems which support the needs of the hospital, its patients and is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan.3.
