Enterprise Function: This role is a high-level finance management position that oversees the hospital financial management for radiology services across an MGB healthcare system (South Division). Reporting to the Senior Finance Director, this position would provide leadership and management direction, initially by planning for and executing the implementation of an integrated Radiology hospital financial service across the system. This position would lead/liaise all necessary financial functions to support radiology services across the system while also striving to continuously improve financial performance through improved efficiencies, capital planning, and complex system-wide organizational restructuring, ensuring that the strategic, operational, and financial goals of Enterprise Radiology are met.

Entity Function: The position involves overseeing the financial management of Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Radiology Department. The main responsibility is to ensure the financial health and efficiency, including budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring financial performance. The role works closely with the BWH Deputy Chief and plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and sustainability of Radiology.

Enterprise Responsibilities:

Radiology Hospital Financial Management – MGB, South Division

o Financial Analysis and Reporting: This tier is responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support decision-making. Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to optimize revenue generation. Hospital/Technical book of business.

o Financial Operations Management: This tier is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Radiology department. Oversee the departmental budget, cash flow, and financial systems to ensure accurate financial information, and they identify and manage financial risks and opportunities. Hospital/Technical book of business.

o Capital Project Management: Assist in the management of the asset portfolio of a capital-intensive department. Ensure that the capital investment strategy fulfills the mission of maintaining our equipment base and investing in innovative technology. Guide the evaluation of the capital equipment relevant to its usability, technological position, and other critical measures to delivering excellent patient care and maintaining our leadership position. Facilitate with department senior administrative, operational, and clinical leadership to develop the capital investment strategy to meet short- and long-term needs.

o Strategic Planning: This tier is responsible for the development and implementation of long-term financial plans, goals, and objectives for the Radiology department. Collaborate with senior management and c-suite executives to ensure that the Radiology financial management aligns with the overall hospital financial strategy.

o Revenue Cycle Management: This tier is responsible for overseeing the billing and collections process for Radiology services, ensuring that revenue is accurately and efficiently captured. Collaborate with other departments, such as Coding and Compliance, to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Hospital portion of billing.

o Leadership and Personnel Management: This tier is responsible for managing the Radiology financial team, providing mentorship, training, and support to ensure that the team is highly skilled, motivated, and productive. Ensure that the team is aligned with the Radiology and hospital mission, vision, and values, and they foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Entity Responsibilities:

Financial Management (BWH)

Guide and support Clinical Operational and Clinical Support leadership in managing and developing annual budgets: Gross Revenue $1.1B+, Operating Expense $98M+, and Total FTEs 567. Provide strategic direction in alignment with the department mission and objective to the Clinical Directors of several modalities in Radiology. Guide financial management of BWH Department of Radiology finance. Responsible for department accounting functions, revenue cycle operations, physician productivity reporting, incentive compensation calculations, budget, and internal control processes. Present fiscal performance and make recommendations to the Clinical Directors and Senior Leadership. Work with executives in planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities to achieve business and department goals. Assist with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the departmental monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for various levels of management. Work with divisions on reviewing and forecasting operating results. Assist with benchmarking and other strategic analyses to support business decision-making, including revenue and FTE metrics.

General Management (BWH)

  • Revenue Cycle Management: Identify, document, evaluate and take corrective action on problematic issues related to radiology technical and professional billing. Coordinate with professional billing office on reporting and revenue management. Write up minutes and follow up on agenda issues.
  • Sundry Fund/Other Management: Responsible for management and oversight of Harvard funds. Responsible for coordinating and managing special projects, including benchmarking or other strategic analysis and financial modeling.
  • Leadership/Staff Management: Mentor and train junior staff. Participate in the execution of changes to procedures, policies, and systems to facilitate expansion, compliance, and scaling of the business. Assist in overseeing and monitoring research finance. Assist with physician requests, including payroll queries and financial processes. Serve as a key strategic partner with the senior leadership and Clinical Directors. Serve as Chair of the Radiology Billing Compliance Committee. Member of the Radiology Executive Denials Committee.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of fundamental management skills (finance, operations, data analysis, compliance, change management and value delivery) required to effectively lead programs and strategic initiatives within a complex healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of the MGB system and its institutions is preferred.
