This is a permanent full-time role based in Naarm (Melbourne) or Tarndanya (Adelaide).
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire a team of underwriting specialists through coaching, mentoring and clear direction to lift capability and performance.
- Represent IAG in Agri and Personal Lines markets, engaging broker partners, WFI authorised representatives and industry networks.
- Shape and deliver go‑to‑market strategies that support portfolio plans, balancing growth, risk, retention and customer outcomes.
- Strengthen underwriting quality through oversight of risk selection, technical guidance, governance and continuous improvement.
- Build collaborative relationships across underwriting, distribution, product, pricing and portfolio teams to achieve shared results.
- Provide insights on market conditions, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to inform strategy and decision‑making.
- Contribute to reinsurance insights, audit processes, technical reviews and quality assurance activities within your portfolios.
What You’ll Bring
- 12+ years’ extensive insurance experience, ideally with senior underwriting exposure across Agri or Personal Lines portfolios.
- Proven leadership capability with strengths in coaching, mentoring and uplifting high‑performing underwriting teams.
- Strong underwriting expertise in risk selection, pricing, strategy development and governance of underwriting authority.
- Commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with experience driving portfolio performance and Go‑to‑Market execution.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable influencing teams and leading broker and AR relationships.
- Relevant qualifications such as a tertiary degree and/or ANZIIF Cert IV, or equivalent industry experience.
- Confidence making sound underwriting decisions with autonomy, supported by strong communication and collaboration skills.
