Your Role

As IAG’s National Underwriting Manager – Agri & Personal Lines representing brands like CGU and WFI, you’ll lead a high-performing team responsible for underwriting and portfolio growth across two significant insurance lines. This role balances strategic leadership with hands-on portfolio ownership, offering the opportunity to drive performance in one of Australia’s most respected Agri and Personal Lines insurance businesses. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining underwriting discipline while fostering innovation and growth.

In this market-facing leadership role, you’ll actively engage with brokers and authorised representatives (ARs), representing the brand at events, webinars, and business development meetings. You’ll also oversee the delivery of underwriting strategies, ensure governance standards are upheld, and manage renewals and new business activities across portfolios exceeding $1B in premium value.

Collaboration is key to success in this role. You’ll work closely with distribution teams, portfolio analysts, and senior leadership to achieve commercial goals and deliver a best-in-market customer experience. With autonomy in decision-making and the ability to influence national strategy, this is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow two flagship portfolios.

This is a permanent role, and we welcome applicants from all major cities in Australia to collaborate with a Naarm (Melbourne) based team.

About You

• Extensive insurance experience with 12+ years in the industry, including 10+ years in senior underwriting roles, ideally within Agri or Personal Lines portfolios.
• Proven leadership capability, including experience managing, coaching, and uplifting the capability of high-performing underwriting teams through change and growth.
• Strong underwriting expertise in risk selection, commercial pricing, strategy development, and governance of underwriting licenses and authority.
• Commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with a track record of driving portfolio performance, profitability, and executing Go-to-Market strategies.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across internal teams and lead market-facing broker and AR relationships.
• Relevant qualifications, including a tertiary degree and/or ANZIIF Cert IV in Insurance (or equivalent industry experience).
