Trimble is recruiting for a Network Administrator to fill an opportunity in Chennai, TN, India.
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be member of Trimble's global, corporate networking team. Responsible for
assisting with network design, implementation and operation of the company’s internal world-wide communications
systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and voice networks.
Act as network lead for their designated geographical region which includes: planning, designing, and
implementing networked systems. The candidate will be involved in troubleshooting and maintaining both in-house
and vendor network connections including configuring routers, switches, wireless access points and other devices or
technologies as required. Also includes coordinating with vendors for installation of such items as direct internet
access (DIA) circuits, MPLS circuit. The successful candid may also assists with proposal writing and/or be
responsible for project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational support and incident resolution.
- Compliance: Monitor and correct compliance issues for device configurations
- Standardization: Develop and maintain standard configurations, procedures and guidelines for installing
and operating data networks.
- Perform first line troubleshooting of network issues.
- System maintenance: Perform firmware / OS upgrades on routers, switches, firewalls, access points and other
devices in accordance with company needs.
- Capacity planning review circuit and device capacities and recommend actions to the Global Network Manager.
- Interface with ISP and carriers to install/commission/test new circuits and/or troubleshoot existing circuits.
- Occasional on-call duties – Every 6 weeks for two days is typical.

resources.
- BS or BA degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent education, training.

- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
- Ability to think through problems and visualize the solutions.
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access
points, firewall, routers, switches,
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network
communication systems.
- Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection.
- CCNA trained/Certified
- Knowledge with the following technologies in design/implement/troubleshooting capacity is essential:
o LAN: Switching – Cisco IOS/Nexus, VLANs, STP/RSTP, Ether-channel/Trunking,etc
- Knowledge with Cisco routers and switches is required, experience with Dell and HP switches desired.
o Routing: BGP, EIGRP, HSRP or VRRP, PBR, etc.
- VPN Solutions: IOS/ASA based L2L and Client access VPN, Knowledge of DMVPN
- Authentication solutions including Cisco ACS/RADIUS/TACACS /Certificates(PKI) greatly desired
- Network troubleshooting using packet capture and analysis using tools such as Wireshark
- Network security experience desired.
