DSU is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Network Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing network connectivity, ensuring the reliability and performance of network devices, and providing support for power systems critical to the network’s operation. You will collaborate closely with the Network Architect to implement and improve network infrastructure, assist in troubleshooting and configuring devices, and ensure comprehensive documentation is created and maintained for all network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Network Device Installation: Physically install and configure network devices, such as switches, routers, and access points, following the Network Architect’s specifications.
- Basic Network Configuration: Learn and apply foundational configurations on network appliances, such as setting up IP addresses, configuring DHCP settings, and applying basic security protocols.
- Power System Placement and Configuration: Assist in placing and configuring power systems like uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to support network devices and minimize downtime risks.
- Tracking Device Performance: Monitor and document the performance of network devices (e.g., latency, throughput), logging issues or trends to help identify areas for improvement.
- Documentation of Configurations and Procedures: Maintain detailed records of network and power system configurations, installation procedures, and any changes made for future reference.
- Cabling Organization and Labeling: Organize, label, and secure network cabling to reduce clutter and make it easier to locate and manage connections, especially in network closets and data centers.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide hands-on support for network troubleshooting, diagnosing issues with both devices and power systems, and assisting in the resolution of any connectivity problems that may arise.
- Collaborative Support with Network Architect: Work closely with the Network Architect on implementing design plans and resolving any connectivity or power issues as they arise.
- Recording Support Tickets and Resolutions: Maintain records of support tickets related to specific devices or systems, documenting issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Experience with networking hardware, cabling, and power systems, including hands-on experience with routers, switches, UPS systems, and network troubleshooting.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and familiarity with the OSI model, TCP/IP, Ethernet and key networking concepts.
- Knowledge of routing and switching protocols and general firewall principles and operation.
- Familiarity with 802.11 standards, wireless architecture and WLAN design.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and performance tracking.
- Knowledge of basic network security practices.
- Ability to create and maintain network documentation, including topologies and data flows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with network management software systems.
- Knowledge of power management systems and their integration with network devices.
- Familiarity with cabling standards and best practices.
