Network Development Engineer, Border Network

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities

As a Network Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will:

• Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple AWS services.
• Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.
• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in IP networking fundamentals and protocols and demonstrated experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols
• Working knowledge of Cisco and Juniper networking platforms
• Experience with network protocols including IPv4, IPv6, TCP, DNS, and HTTP
• Understanding of data center network architecture and design principles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong Unix skills and the ability to script in Perl, shell, C or C++ is desirable.
• Experience with mission critical multicast systems is highly desired.
• Background in cloud infrastructure networking
• Experience with network security protocols and best practices
