Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in CCNP/CCDP.
  • Experience with planning and designing large-scale networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).
  • Experience with large enterprise data center network design and operations in a global environment.
  • Experience with working in a multi-vendor environment, and designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of data center technologies/protocols: VXLAN, BGP EVPN, MC-LAG, Encryption, key management, or zone based network segmentation.
  • Excellent systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

The Google Enterprise Network (GEN) Hosting team plans, designs, provisions, supports and scales the multi-tenant Data Center network infrastructure needs for various product areas and select Alphabet companies. The team owns aspects of the multi-tenant environment, including engineering, deployment, testing and automation.

In this role, you will plan, design, and build Google’s multi-tenant Enterprise Data Center networks used for hosting workloads for various product areas within Google, select Alphabet companies and Google Corporate Services applications. You will be working closely with experienced network engineers, software engineers, and security architects to provide a comprehensive approach in support of our security policies and build new services as needed. Google’s complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience.
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
  • Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
  • Participate in rotating schedules with other team members, including weekends.
