This position is eligible for hybrid remote work environment; combination of telecommuting and participating in onsite rotating work schedule at offices located in Austin. May also be required to come into the Austin office for scheduled meetings, and there may be unscheduled requests for TWC business need. The ideal candidate must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule and provide excellent customer support, be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.

Seeking an IT professional who uses analysis and design techniques to solve business problems using technology. The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills. Must have the ability to communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Network Engineer (Network Specialist V-VI) performs advanced to advanced and/or supervisory to highly advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) work overseeing activities associated with a Local Area Network (LAN) and/or Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet and intranet systems, and other data networks; planning, designing, and integrating data telecommunications networks; designing, installing, and monitoring networks; monitoring and analyzing existing hardware and software; developing policies and procedures; preparing budget recommendations; and evaluating potential network enhancements. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable to extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Strategic planning, design, rollout, 24/7 operations, performance, and security of the internal network that provides services to TWC employees, contractors, and vendors. Maintain Blue Cat, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions.
- Maintain, monitor and document the Local Area and Wide Area network infrastructure and provide Network Diagrams when needed.
- Monitor network infrastructure (including Cloud architecture) to ensure fault tolerance and redundancy of critical system.
- Review, analyze, troubleshoot, interpret, and implement and install firewall rules and the impact on network behavior.
- Perform and coordinate on-going maintenance and problem resolution to ensure Local and Wide Area network performance and integrity.
- Evaluate existing network and system procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Perform and coordinate installation and configuration of LAN/WAN equipment, wiring, connectors and all other hardware and software that relates to providing end user communication needs on the LAN/WAN.
- Work with Building and Facilities staff to ensure end user additions, moves and changes are completed on schedule.
- Maintain and provide added port availability.
- Research and evaluate various hardware and software resources.
- Perform risks assessments and disaster recovery responsibilities.
- Participate in research, planning, acquisition, testing and implementation phases of assigned LAN/WAN-related projects.
- Perform problem determination and resolution on hardware and software related to the LAN/WAN network equipment and end-user problem determination and resolution.
- Maintains up to date information on assigned problems within the helpdesk problem management system.
- Other duties and assigned data communications tasks, as needed.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, plus six years of full-time related work experience.
- One year of utilizing project management in leading large-scale network projects.
- Open Source network management tools such as Wireshark and MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher).
- Panduit Pan-Net cabling system.
- Python programming experience.
- Installing, configuring and maintaining Cisco Network’s Enterprise hardware.
- IP Subnetting and IP Routing; Implements and configures routed and switched data networks. Performs configuration of routing protocols, e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Using OSI model as a troubleshooting process.
- Ability to communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
- Ability to put together project plans, work break down structures, and present following PMBOK methodologies.
- Industry related certifications are a plus, but not required: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Project Management Professional (PMP) or formal project management training and/or certification.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- Network Specialist V: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, plus four years of full-time experience in networks, telecommunications, and/or utilizing personal computer hardware and software.
- Network Specialist VI: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, plus five years of full-time experience in networks, telecommunications, and/or utilizing personal computer hardware and software.
- Both Levels: One year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for
each year (30 semester hours) of education.
