Under the direction of the Network Operations Manager, the Network Engineer is responsible for monitoring Uecomm networks and providing technical support to customers for faults and other network related issues that impact on customer service. The position will involve shift work to operate, maintain and support the Uecomm Network to meet and exceed availability targets and deliver a high customer experience effectively and efficiently. The Network Engineer will provide technical management, subject matter expertise and guidance across multiple projects, platforms and technologies while acting as an escalation point to the team in support of external and internal customers as required.

About The Role:

  • Full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract opportunity
  • Flexible & hybrid working arrangements available – office location in Melbourne CBD
  • Shift work – 5 week rotating roster across 24-7 day and night shifts
  • Shift loadings & overtime rates applicable, including opportunity to pick up additional overtime work if desired

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist technical support for customers. Receive, detect, diagnose, test, isolate and resolve network problems across all Uecomm network platforms (Fibre, Ethernet, MPLS, VPLS, xWDM, DSL and IP).
  • Ensure fault management procedures are followed and adhered to and those key stakeholders within the company are informed of customer and network faults as required.
  • Proactively monitor the network using a series of surveillance tools.
  • Commence action on potential problems before they impact a customer. Ensure that customer Service Level Agreements are met and that the customer is provided with regular updates pertaining to their fault.
  • Provide direction to onsite field staff on all technical issues.
  • Monitor and control all network hazards/outages. Ensure Uecomm personnel and third party contractors comply with Uecomm procedures when accessing and conducting works on company infrastructure.

About You:

  • Technical specialist knowledge with current and next generation voice and data Networks, interfaces, systems and technology used
  • Strong experience working with VPLS, MPLS & Ethernet
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer focused environment
  • Demonstrated trouble shooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent Organisation skills with the ability to follow things through to completion with good self-management and work organisation skills
