Responsibilities & Requirements
- Consistently utilizes critical thinking and analytic abilities in seeking and resolving issues.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, endpoint devices, server, router, switch, firewall, gateway and cabling technologies.
- Ability to implement basic voice and data configuration changes using industry best practices.
- Utilize current networking tools and practices to deliver and maintain highly reliable and available solutions.
- Maintain hardware and server health through patching, reboots, applications of hot fixes and security configurations.
- Participate in physical hardware installations; running cable, installing network infrastructure and devices such as, but not limited to; Wireless Access Points, Network Switches, IP Phones, VoIP Gateways.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide off-hours support.
- Collaborate with senior engineers/architects, in the design, setup and configuration of complex network environments supporting wireless access (public and private), networking, voice/unified communications and video applications.
- Identify self-training opportunities and/or conferences that align with yearly goals.
- Develop and maintain support documentation. Educate end-users and team members as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
5-7 years of related Network administration/engineering experience, preferably in a Cisco environment
Advanced certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE etc preferred or able to obtain if required.
Works effectively in a Team Environment
Ability to address and resolve complex network related problems
Conduct Research on emerging network technologies and platforms
Expected to have Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge of most, if not all networking topics
Ability to support a 24x7x365 network in a healthcare environment
Experience with SIP, Cisco Unified Call Manager, Unity Messging, Voice Gateways, Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Cisco Emergency Responder E911, WebEx required
Familiarity with Infortel, SPOK, Neustar/Transunion (spam), RedSky (e911) products preferred
Polished business skills (written and verbal communication) and ability to serve as an expert for the department in these technologies.
