Location: Downtown Austin, TX (Onsite)

Contract Length: 6 months with potential for extension

Overview:

Our client in downtown Austin is seeking a Network Operations Engineer with expertise in network automation to join their team on a contract basis. This role will focus on enhancing and supporting network infrastructure through automation, monitoring, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring strong scripting skills, a deep understanding of networking technologies, and the ability to streamline operations in a dynamic data center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and support enterprise network infrastructure in a production environment.
• Design, implement, and maintain network automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
• Develop scripts and tools (Python, Ansible, or similar) to automate network configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Perform daily monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis for network issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability, scalability, and security.
• Support system upgrades, patching, and performance optimization activities.
• Document network configurations, processes, and automation workflows.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in network operations or engineering.
• Strong background in enterprise networking (routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, DHCP).
• Hands-on experience with network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
• Experience in monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
