Job Description:

NCR Network Perimeter Security (NPS) Network Engineer role provides second-level technical trouble support and the processing of alerts that could be the first sign of network security incidents. The analyst is expected to have a solid understanding of basic network security that consists of the following but is not limited to firewalls, F5, VPN concentrators, SSL-VPN devices, IPS, reverse proxies, etc. The individual in this position will focus on network security and connectivity between NCR and non-NCR devices (customers, partners, Internet.) This position will be responsible for front-line support for inbound Internet gateway changes in support of secure access into NCR from various devices – employee-owned, NCR-owned, and customer-owned devices. The team to which the position reports is responsible for working with customers/partners to set up extranet VPNs, oversee intrusion prevention, Web filtering, SSL access, 2-factor remote access, reverse proxy, and other perimeter network security implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review security events and alerts within the monitoring systems.
  • Support IPSEC VPN configurations, setups, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide support for the Network Perimeter Security Engineering team.
  • Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot network security platforms when needed.
  • Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades.
  • Monitor the network to ensure optimal performance.
  • Create technical support documentation for Network Devices.
  • Document incidents, track resolutions, and provide detailed reports to senior team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate and resolve complex network problems.
  • Assist in the implementation of network changes and updates under supervision.
  • This job role requires candidates to monitor the network. The team works on a 24×5 basis and on-call support during the weekends. Team members are required to work rotational shifts including night shift.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  • Experience:

o For Grade 12: Overall, 6-8 years of experience with at least 4 years of networking and/or security experience.

o For Grade 11: Overall, 3-6 years of experience with at least 2-3 years of networking and or security experience

o For Grade 10: Overall, 2-4 years of experience with at least 2 years of networking and or security experience

o For Grade 9: 6 months to 1 year of experience in networking and or security experience

  • Experience with IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalling concepts
  • Deep understanding of the latest network technologies and security principles.
  • In-Depth understanding of firewall rules, policies, ports, blocks, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with an F5 Load balancer is a must.
  • Experience with Fortinet Firewall is a must.
  • Experience with routers and Switches is a must.
  • Experience with Secure Remote access like Zscaler ZPA, FortiClient is must.
  • Experience with Network and Security Infrastructure tools (SolarWinds, Thousand Eyes, AlgoSec Policy management and optimisation, Automation and Orchestration like Terraform and GitHub, Forti Manager and Forti Analyzer)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
