Our Bornem site has around 200 employees.To further expand our professional team in Bornem we are looking for a:Product & Application Development (PAD) EngineerBasic Function :As a PAD engineer you are responsible for developing, improving and driving implementation of new products (masterbatches/compounds) or improving and maintaining existing products that meet the needs of the customer (internal and external). The work activities are performed according to business strategy & needs. Within your own responsibilities you have a European and global impact on our business.Roles & Responsibilities :
Develop, improve and implement new and existing masterbatch products that fulfill the requirements of the market needs according the business strategy within a set timeframe. Responsible as a project manager for the full product development taking into consideration set targets considering all regulatory aspects (food contact, REACH,…), safety, cost aspect, assessing IP as well as processability. Tasks include (but not limited to): defining recipes, setting up test plans, coordinating application testing, coordinating and evaluating physical properties as well as analytical testing, feasibility check for new product development ideas, business case calculations, raw material choices and production feasibility check.
Reporting including giving regularly project updates to different stakeholders (including but not limited to gate review meetings, monthly and bi-yearly project updates).
Technical responsible for a dedicated product and/or additive range which includes support to internal (global) and exceptionally external customers.
Support in case of customer complaints related to the dedicated product range/additives.
Scientific & state-of-the art: Ensure to be up to date with recent developments (state-of-the-art) in the area of raw materials, masterbatches and compounding technology by reading literature, patents, attending conferences, fairs and regular meetings with suppliers.
Profile :
Master in Sciences or Engineering, preferably PhD
Knowledge of raw materials and polymers is a must
Relevant experience in product development & project management is preferred
Knowledge of business-specific software (Accolade, SAP) is nice to have
Critical & Analytical mindset
Strong organizational skills with a drive for results
Fluent in English
