Parks and Green Spaces Manager£47,956 – 55,61737 Hour Week – Hours flexible to suit the needs of the service and occasional evening meetings.About the roleThe Parks and Green Spaces Manager position is a busy, rewarding people and place focused operational role. The successful candidate will be accountable for managing the Green Spaces team maintaining the provision of safe and inviting Parks and Green Spaces.Based within Environmental Services the Parks and Green Spaces Manager will be working closely with the Corporate Head of Environmental Services on the strategic planning of future service provision in consultation with key stakeholders including elected members, residents, sports clubs and colleagues.The Parks and Green Spaces Manager will be responsible for building and developing the Green Spaces team whilst maintaining and promoting the existing culture which is supportive, collaborative, and forward thinking.The role includes management of Events held on Runnymede owned land and delivering a site inspection programmes to ensure our parks, playgrounds and open spaces are safe and welcoming for residents and visitors. Enforcement work related to incursions and encampments will be the responsibility of the post holder.Including responsibility for the arboriculture service the successful candidate will be working with our procurement team to progress procurement of borough wide tree audit and all associated tree improvement and maintenance works.Runnymede delivers grounds maintenance services in house. These services are run from our Chertsey depot and close collaboration with the Operations Manager will be key to achieving optimal service delivery.About youTo be successful in this role you will need to have substantial knowledge of Parks and Green Spaces services ideally from a public sector perspective. A relevant land management or horticulture qualification is desirable.Experienced in landscape management with an understanding of the competing priorities and interests in this field.You will be a clear communicator, conveying information both spoken and written in a way that is understood to enable you to build effective relationships and partnerships and be a role model and leader within your team and across the council.You will ideally have experience in managing budgets, drafting, and presenting relevant committee reports.You will have knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of service planning and management in a comparable organisation.About RunnymedeRunnymede is an ambitious, passionate, and progressive council with a forward- thinking attitude and award-winning departments.
