Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | This 3-credit hour course focuses on the neonatal population. Emphasis will be placed on the management of health issues and common illnesses of high risk neonates, recognizing the acute and chronic nature of disease and targeting optimal health outcomes. The course will build on previous course work of advanced assessment/diagnosis/treatment using primary healthcare principles to optimize patient outcomes. This appointment runs from September 1 until December 31, 2024. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course-specific topics. • Course content instruction • Utilization of learning platforms inclusive of Brightspace for course delivery and One45 for review of student clinical rotations • Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace • Assessment and evaluation of student learning inclusive of exam development and administration • Submission of grades • Responding to student queries about coursework • Participation in course discussions within the program • Follow up with students as necessary |
Qualifications/Requirements of Position | Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner foci) and be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia. A strong clinical background as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of two years experience in a Level III/IV NICU setting is required. Prior teaching experience at the graduate level would be an asset. Preference will be given to those with a PhD. |
Salary Range/Pay Rate | Per CUPE Collective Agreement |
